Spa Week

Spa week…. were you on board?

Were you or your spa a part of the nationwide fun?

My skin and body were tired and I needed some R & R so I gave my skin and spirit what it needed… locally. Although I travel all over and have had the pleasure of some delightful services at beautiful spas, I had never tried a resort here in Jacksonville, Florida.

The Ponte Vedra Spa and Inn has a five-diamond status and I was so excited to play hooky from work and escape!

I booked an appointment for the Old World Salt Scrub and a Deep cleansing facial on another day too!

The spa is a beautiful place with twenty glorious treatment rooms.
For only $50.00 dollars, I was scrubbed, rubbed and pampered.
I also had a delightful (not a “fat farm”) lunch that was delicious. This chef was amazing!

They served Sencha hot teas, fresh-diced strawberries, limes and orange water refreshing. The shiny green apples were fresh and crunchy too!

The PV SHOPPE was a shoppers paradise. Retailing is a wonderful thing!

The pool and outside spots to have a vitamin D sun bath peaceful. The lounge areas were filled with flowers and tropical plants surrounded me!

It was fun being on the other end. I also thought I was a very wealthy tourist who does not work outside the home. It was strange playing for the day in my own back yard.

My only wish is they scrubbed my PEEPS off. You know those squshy marshmallow delights in the shape of bunnies and chicks. My thighs and I love them way too much!

I know you are busy too but I hope someday you escape and have a play day with your staff or yourself and partake of what other spas have to offer. You will learn something NEW and get a little rest and relaxation too!

Escape or partake of SPA week and get your party started for new clients. It was a relaxing amazing ride! I am glad I did. You will too!

Let me hear from you if you escaped and played hooky too!

Everything is coming up roses!

…with Groupon. MORE Groupon clients have booked, met and pampered some more. All is good.

Tipped last month quite generously from A VERY satisfied client. Now, this week knocked my high heels off. A $50.00 tip from yet another. The fact is in all my years I NEVER accepted tips. I feel best when they buy retail or tell friends about us. I gave the tip back three times across the counter. Finally I accepted it. Groupon tells the voucher bearer to TIP generously. I guess they are really happy with their appointment with us.

I am now booking into June and July. FYI Saturday is a much wanted appointment day.

As for the other ladies who last moment cancelled, we gave them a second chance. One final time or the offer is void.

I hope they come. They were happy we honored it.

My last installment check arrived for my Groupon deal.

Prompt and on time as usual. Groupon wants to do another deal. I am going to stay in pause and finish a few dozen more clients before we do.

I love doing business with this professional company and the WIN/ WIN

arrangement.

Bump in the Road…

I told you all I would be honest and so I am sharing with you what my Groupon is doing now. Still have met the nicest ladies almost all in their 30′s. They are little couponistas, fashionistas and savvy. They want to have the service and spend too!

My only kink is three called with cancellations on Saturday. I was so looking forward to this party of three. We called and confirmed the day before they called and left a message on our voice mail that night and said “Yes, they too are looking forward to it.” Unfortunatley, the other two did not want to come without the third one….so we LOST income for 1/2 day. It was tough.

Although we have a wait list in case someone cancels, most of the time you really can’t get people to come on such short notice. Depending on where they live is a factor too! We tried.

The deal offered has terms that are spelled out on their voucher.

24 hour cancellation notice or Groupon is forfeited

Subject to availability. Not valid with other offers.

When they called to cancel they said they’d like to rebook.  Not really giving thought to the voucher. They left a mesage on our voice mail.

So that is where we stand from Saturday. Its a delicate professional situation. We do want new blood and business and understand things do happen BUT…

By the way, the reason I may sound so disappointed is in all my years of business this has only happened a handful of times. Like hardly ever bounced bad checks and charges for us. We are lucky.

YOUR advice and take on this my fellow professionals?

I hope you’ve had a chance to read my spotlight. I so enjoyed the interview and sharing my beauty filled life with you!

Oprah is a big fan of this brand …your clients will be too.

Supersmile has come out with new apple-flavored toothpaste to whiten and brighten your client’s smile.

Sonic Cleansing is still brushing its way into our world.

Mama Mio’s BOOB tube is a new lotion for firming her décolleté.

Boom Boom Brow bar featured a facial wax that is boom boom great!

Boo-Boo Cover-up rocked the show floor as the cover-up for healing and concealing blemishes and imperfections with a natural twist.

Kryolan has your answer for Dancing with the Stars glow. Shimmering event foundation. I love the way this makes my and my clients skin look. They also have some amazing long lasting makeup spray.

Crown Brush continues to be pretty in  pink! Love that color!

Hot LIPS!

I have a secret I waited until V-DAY to share as I thought it was quite appropriate. Any one who watched TV and the show called MASH knows Hot Lips Houlihan the blonde vixen with the great lips. She was a big hit and so was the TV show. The actress is Loretta Swit.

Well, she now appears in theaters across the country starring in one woman and other shows on stage. A few months ago, she happens to be performing in Sunny Jacksonville Florida. Lucky us! I had dropped off a gift bag for her to enjoy of happy treats…with all things LIPS! (more…)

Just the facts…My take on Groupon thus far!

They are “choosey” about who they invite for the deal of the day. You must be a reputable business and I am honored my business was chosen.

Groupon came up with the price of my deal based on the cost of what the products used would be per face and the time. Overall, It was a joint effort. They know we are a “candy shoppe of beauty” so they knew retailing is what we were looking for besides gaining new clients.

Once in the Groupon system with a coupon you have a virtual advertising business card and information in an online shop. You can update this at anytime with the format they give you. This is the section on the site where they asked you to tell them about yourself with a Q & A that members can preview about you before buying.

Check is in the mail…

My first Groupon check arrived $$$

Promptly like they said on Monday.

Thus far, I have booked and made up approx. 50 ladies and more to come. It is steady and nothing we cannot handle along with our regular clients and shoppers. So far so GREAT~

Offering a discount in this down and very slow recovering economy has been working. It’s not an every day deal…it’s one time. The Grouponites (I affectionately call them) are so nice and a CLASS act new client. Every person who has come in has made a purchase!

I am so pleased, as a small petite and sweet beauty business, this is working out for us and bringing us NEW blood who may have never heard of us as well as clients who have just moved here.

Come back… and I will tell you even more. Questions…E-mail me at info@noreenyoung.com

Groupon and me!

YAY! Round One is over. Now on to the next step!

Our offer of beauty was: A private makeup session, skin care lesson, and a skin softening aromatherapy hand treatment. It also includes a refreshing signature beverage (alcoholic if they’d like) and a few decadent edibles both served on a silver tray. The offer featured on a Saturday. I was concerned as usually the coupons are a daily deal NOT Saturday. However, with the growth of Groupon they added Saturdays now. My rep assured me it would all run smoothly and we will sell well. I got a bonus Sunday too. My rep. told me that it being a long holiday weekend I did really well. (more…)

Getting our coupon groove on with Groupon

After all the press, articles I have read and an invite and countless calls from the Groupon Team I have decided to take the plunge and try it.

Reviews I have read have been good and bad. I called other local business owners to see how their Groupon experience was. It resulted in a great experience. I believe it’s right for me!

If you haven’t heard about it nor tried it to market your business with a daily deal. Live it and learn it through me. Also check out their website www.groupon.com (more…)
